Ancient artefacts in Year 4

To start our new topic about Ancient Egypt we found different artefacts around the classroom. They were hidden under tombs! Year 4 used their investigation skills to guess what they might of been used for or what they were! I wonder if you can find out some more about your favourite one at home.

Fire fighter visit

The whole school had a visit from the fire fighters! We learnt about fire safety and safety in the home. Then we had a tour of the fire engines.

Does Gas have weight?

Year 4 were challenged to investigate if gas (carbon dioxide) had any weight.
The whole class predicted that it wouldn´t have any weight however after weighing the bottles before and after the gas was released they realised it did!

The children then investigated which fizzy drink had the most carbon dioxide. Excellent investigating skills Year 4!

World Science Day

Everyone at Canterbury School Maspalomas celebrated World Science Day ! The whole school was set the challenge to ´Ditch the dirt´for a village in Kenya. Year 4 planned their designs in teams then tried and tested their ideas. Everyone worked very scientifically to check it was a fair test! As a class we found that the best water filteration system was using a sieve first then using rocks then sand in a plastic bottle. Great work year 4 scientists!
